The Breweries of Sonoma County

Sonoma County, located in California's Wine Country, is home to a thriving craft brewery scene. With over 50 breweries in the area, there is no shortage of delicious and diverse beer to choose from. From hoppy IPAs and refreshing pilsners to rich stouts and crisp lagers, the breweries of Sonoma County have something for every taste.

One of the oldest breweries in Sonoma County is Bear Republic Brewing Co., founded in 1995 in Healdsburg. Bear Republic is known for its hoppy beers, including the popular Racer 5 IPA, as well as a variety of other styles such as porters and amber ales. In addition to its taproom in Healdsburg, Bear Republic has a production facility in Cloverdale and a brewpub in Rohnert Park.

Another long-standing brewery in the area is Russian River Brewing Co., founded in 1997 in Santa Rosa. Russian River is perhaps most famous for its Pliny the Elder double IPA, which has gained a cult following among beer enthusiasts. In addition to IPAs, Russian River brews a range of other styles including sours, stouts, and Belgian ales. Russian River has a taproom and brewpub in downtown Santa Rosa.

Third Street Aleworks, located in Santa Rosa, is another popular brewery in Sonoma County. Third Street has a wide range of beers on tap, including IPAs, pale ales, pilsners, and stouts. In addition to their taproom, Third Street also has a restaurant and outdoor beer garden.

Lagunitas Brewing Co., based in Petaluma, is another well-known brewery in the region. Lagunitas is known for its hoppy beers, including the popular IPA and Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale. In addition to its beers, Lagunitas also has a music venue and outdoor beer garden at its Petaluma brewery.

Sonoma Springs Brewery, located in Sonoma, is a newer addition to the Sonoma County brewery scene, having opened in 2015. Sonoma Springs brews a variety of beers including IPAs, stouts, and Belgian-style ales. In addition to its taproom, Sonoma Springs also has a beer garden and hosts live music events.

Fogbelt Brewing Co., also located in Santa Rosa, is another newer brewery in the area, having opened in 2014. Fogbelt brews a range of beers including IPAs, pilsners, and saisons. Fogbelt has a taproom and outdoor beer garden in downtown Santa Rosa.

Woodfour Brewing Co., located in Sebastopol, is a small brewery focused on producing Belgian-style and barrel-aged beers. Woodfour's taproom and outdoor beer garden are located in an old apple processing plant, giving it a unique setting.

St. Florian's Brewery, located in Windsor, is another newer addition to the Sonoma County brewery scene, having opened in 2016. St. Florian's brews a range of beers including IPAs, stouts, and Belgian-style ales. St. Florian's has a taproom and outdoor beer garden.

There are also several brewpubs in Sonoma County, including Plow Brewing in Penngrove, which brews a variety of beers and has a restaurant on site. Brewsters Beer Garden in Petaluma is another popular brewpub, with a wide range of beers on tap and a large outdoor beer garden.
